India records 18,346 new Covid infections, lowest daily caseload in 209 days

New Delhi: According to the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 18,346 new coronavirus infections, the lowest in 209 days, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 3,38,53,048, while the active cases declined to 2,52,902, which is 201 days. lowest in. A decrease of 11,556 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in the 24-hour period.

11,41,642 tests were conducted on Monday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far to 57,53,94,042 for detection of COVID-19 in the country.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.61 per cent. It is less than three per cent for the last 36 days. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.66 per cent. According to the ministry, it has been below three per cent for the last 102 days.

The number of people recovering from the disease increased to 3,31, 50,886, while the death rate was recorded at 1.33 percent.

The cumulative dose administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign has exceeded 91.54 crore.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It had crossed 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October. 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and crossed the one crore mark on 19 December.

India crossed the grim milestone of 20 million on 4 May and 30 million on 23 June.

263 new people include 149 from Kerala and 26 from Maharashtra.

A total of 4,49,260 deaths have been reported in the country so far, including 1,39,233, Karnataka 37,832, Tamil Nadu 35,666, Kerala 25,526 and Delhi 25,088, Uttar Pradesh 22,894 and West Bengal 18,837.

The ministry insisted that over 70 per cent of the deaths were due to co-morbidities.

“Our data is being collated with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website. State wise distribution of data is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
