India records 5,076 Kovid-19 cases, 11 deaths in a day

The Union Health Ministry said in an update on Sunday that India has registered 5,076 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours. Since the start of the pandemic in early 2020, the country’s active caseload dropped to 47,945, with the total number of reported cases.

According to the health ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.58% and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.72%.

A total of 3,20,784 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests conducted so far to 88.94 crore.

The data shows that 5,970 recoveries were recorded in the 24-hour period, taking the cumulative recoveries to 4,39,19,264. Right now the recovery rate is 98.71%.

The death toll rose to 5,28,150 with 11 fatalities, including four deaths reconciled by Kerala, data updated at 8 am.

Under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign, 214.95 crore COVID vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far, of which 94.50 crore are second doses and 18.07 crores are precautionary doses.

Talking about the availability of vaccines, more than 202.53 crore (2,02,53,52,325) vaccine doses have been provided to the States/UTs so far through the Government of India and through the Direct State Procurement category. It further said that more than 4.66 crore (4,66,55,930) remaining and untapped vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed 20 lakhs on August 7, 2020, 30 lakhs on 23rd August, 40 lakhs on 5th September and 50 lakhs on 16th September.

It crossed 60 lakhs on 28th September, 70 lakhs on 11th October, 80 lakhs on 29th October, 90 lakhs on 20th November and one crore on 19th December.

India crossed the grim milestone of 20 million on May 4, 30 million on June 23 last year and 40 million on January 25 this year.
