The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said on Monday that India is set to achieve 450 GW of renewable energy installed capacity by 2030.

Earlier this month, MNRE in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organized a series of events during Climate and Biodiversity Week at Expo 2020 Dubai from October 6 to 8, 2021.

According to the official statement released by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the programs included topics on India’s renewable energy achievements and ambitions, emerging sectors and renewable energy opportunities in India, and also focused on events organized by Solar Energy Corporation. . (SECI) and the Renewable Energy Development Agency of India (IREDA).

Addressing the event on Monday, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy RK Singh said, “India is already ahead of what it promises in our Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). 39 per cent of our installed capacity was earlier. from non-fossil based sources since 2022. We will reach our target of 40 per cent by 2022.”

“We are launching Green Corridor Phase 2 and we are generally expanding transmission to put systems in place for renewable energy extraction from places where radiation is high, or wind speed is high,” he added.

Speaking on the opportunities of green hydrogen in India, Mr Singh said that his ministry will work with bids for electrolysers and it is mandated for green hydrogen consumption in refining, fertilisers, piped natural gas.

“India has embarked on an exciting journey and is moving ahead where no one has ventured before, and SECI will continue to work towards meeting the 450 GW ambition by 2030,” the minister said.
