Coming into the match, India took the lead on the second day of rain, with Bumrah excelling with the ball as well, taking three wickets to reduce the hosts to 84/5 at the end of the game on Saturday.
Jonny Bairstow (12*) and Ben Stokes (0*) will resume proceedings for England on Sunday.
