India vs England, 5th Test, Day 1 HighlightsRishabh Pant hit a counter-innings of 146 off 111 balls as India made a strong comeback to 338 for seven on the first day of the fifth Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham. India were at 98 for five when Pant and Jadeja came to the rescue and added 222 runs for the sixth wicket. While Pant eventually lost his wicket to Joe Root, Jadeja remained unbeaten on 83 before the stumps were called on the first day. Earlier, James Anderson and Matthew Potts had put India under the pump after England captain Ben Stokes took three and two wickets respectively. Winning the toss and decided to bowl in the match. Jadeja got ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin for the game. Cheteshwar Pujara, on the other hand, opened the batting for India in Rohit Sharma’s absence but scored just 13 runs before falling victim to James Anderson. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s poor form continued as he scored 11 runs before losing his wicket to Matty Potts. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah leads the Indian side after Rohit Sharma tested positive for COVID-19 once again on Thursday.
