Going by the statistics, the game between India and England promises to be thrilling. In the previous edition of the 2018 World Cup held in London, India leveled England’s performance in a round-robin league match at 1-1. Earlier that year, the Indian women’s team defeated England 2–1 in the group stage at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, but lost to them in the bronze medal match. These two teams faced each other in the 2006 World Cup, where they drew 1–1 as well as the 2002 Champions Challenge 3–3 and lost 1–0 in the 1998 Women’s World Cup group match.
Even though India and England were supposed to play a double-header game in the FIH Hockey Pro League earlier this year, which would have provided an insight into their game, the match was cancelled.
