India vs West Indies 1st T20I | Suryakumar and debutant Bishnoi registered a six-wicket win for India

India beat West Indies by six wickets in the first T20I here on Wednesday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

India restricted West Indies to 157 for seven and then chased down the target with seven balls to spare, scoring 162 for 4 in 18.5 overs.

Captain Rohit Sharma gave India a quick start of 40 runs in 19 balls, while Ishan Kishan scored 35 runs in 42 runs. Suryakumar Yadav (34 not out) and Venkatesh Iyer (24 not out) finally took the team home.

Roston Chase (2/14) took two wickets, while Sheldon Cottrell (1/35), Fabian Allen (1/10) took one wicket each.

Earlier, Nicholas Pooran, who had bagged a staggering 10.75 crores in the IPL mega auction, opened the innings with a 43-ball 61.

Ravi Bishnoi made his dream debut with two wickets for 17 runs in his four overs. Harshal Patel (2/37) also took two wickets.
