What is 5G?
5G is the next generation mobile network capability that can facilitate the transmission of large sets of data at high speeds. 5G has low latency (the ability to process a certain amount of data with minimal latency), with the potential to be 10 times faster than 4G. The 5G rollout is expected to drive further developments in remote data monitoring in sectors such as mining, warehousing, telemedicine and manufacturing. Another area where 5G will benefit customers is edge computing.

Will 4G sim work in 5G phone?
To get 5G connectivity, you must have a 5G-enabled smartphone/tablet. A report states that 9.7% of the smartphones used in India are 5G-enabled. When 4G was launched, telecom providers started giving 4G SIM cards to people in India. Thanks to technology, we will not need to line-up or apply for a new SIM to avail 5G services.
A 4G SIM can work in a 5G-powered phone, however, so you won’t be able to take full advantage of the 5G capabilities. To get the most out of 5G network, it is necessary to have a 5G SIM with a 5G phone.
