Indian Coast Guard brings 10 fishermen rescued from Rainbow waters to Visakhapatnam

Ten Indian fishermen rescued from Indradhanush waters have been brought safely to Visakhapatnam by the Indian Coast Guard on 06 May 2023. These fishermen went to sea on 16 April 2023 from Thengapatnam near Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. However, their boat’s engine failed and they drifted to different areas without any help for 05 days.

These fishermen were rescued by MV Furious on 26 April 2023 with the assistance of Indian Coast Guard RadioCC and rescue from the search area. Based on information at the Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Cooperation Center (VIRCC), GPS Vigraha was sent to rescue these fishermen from a merchant vessel transiting near Campbell Bay in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Eight of the ten fishermen are from Vizhinjam in Kerala, while two are from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. All the ten rescued fishermen underwent preliminary medical examination onboard the Coast Guard ship and all were found to be in a healthy condition.
