Indian Railways AC 3-tier economy class coach fares 8% less than regular 3AC

Two 3 AC Economy Class coaches have been added to 02429 Lucknow-New Delhi Express.

Indian Railways rolled out new AC three-tier economy class coaches attached with train number 02403 Prayagraj-Jaipur Express, which started services on 6 September. Railway officials have kept the fare structure for these coaches at eight per cent. Compared to 3AC coach.

According to the Ministry of Railways, the new 3AC economy class coach has 83 berths as against 72 berths in 3AC coaches, and has been developed with an aim to provide better passenger-friendly facilities.

The Ministry of Railways said in a tweet that recently two new 3 AC Economy Class coaches were added in Train No. 02429 Lucknow-New Delhi AC Special Express from Lucknow.

In the initial phase, 50 new economy class coaches will be manufactured by Rail Coach Factory, Kaputhala, and will be ready to serve in mail/express trains in various areas of the national transporter network.

New AC Three-Tier Economy Class Coaches of Indian Railways: Top Features-

  • The AC ducting has been redesigned by providing separate vents for all the berths. The modular design of the seats and berths has been made to improve the comfort and reduce the weight of the coach.
  • New passenger-friendly features have been provided such as foldable snack tables in both longitudinal and transverse bays, injury free space and holders for water bottles, mobile phones.
  • There is a provision of extensive toilet doors and entrances in the coaches for the specially-abled.
  • Separate reading lights and USB charging points are also provided for each berth.
  • A new ergonomically improved staircase design has been made for access to the middle and upper berths in the coaches. There is increased headroom in the middle and upper berths.
  • The interiors of the coaches are fitted with luminescent aisle markers, illuminated berth indicators with night lights and luminescent berth numbers.
  • The coaches are equipped with CCTV cameras and better fire safety net.
