Indian Railways announces 179 pairs of special trains till Chhath Puja

Indian Railways has announced that they are running 2,269 trips of 179 pairs of special trains till Chhath Puja this year to manage extra rush during the festive season. The festive season of 2022 which started with Ganesh Chaturthi from 31st August continued with Navratri and Durga Puja from 25th September to 5th October. The festive season crowd is likely to reduce with the Chhath Puja scheduled to be held on October 30.

Central Railway (CR) has notified 100 journeys of seven pairs of special trains, according to an official statement.

Crowd management in view of the festive season

According to the press release, additional RPF personnel have been deployed at major stations to ensure the safety of passengers. Officials have been deployed on emergency duty at major stations to ensure smooth running of trains. The staff has been deployed in different sections on priority basis to avoid any disruption of train service.

According to the release, ‘May I Help You’ booths have been kept operational at important stations where RPF personnel and TTEs have been deputed for proper assistance and guidance of passengers. Medical teams are available on call at major stations. Ambulance with paramedical team is also available.

The Ministry of Railways is keen to keep a close watch on any malpractices such as cornering of seats, overcharging and touting activities by the employees of the Department of Security and Vigilance and the same is being closely monitored. Instructions have been given by the Zonal Headquarters to maintain cleanliness in waiting rooms, rest rooms, platforms in particular and stations in general.
