Indian short ‘Weak’ camera to premiere at Nazionale della Moda Italiano

Producer Shabina Khan, directors Arsala Qureshi and Jas Sagu, and Aara Lumiere founder Kulsoom Shadab Wahab have joined hands to bring the film together.

An India short film on inclusivity “Vulnerable: Scars That You Don’t See” is set to premiere at the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiano during Milano Fashion Week on Wednesday.

The Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (National Chamber for Italian Fashion) is a non-profit organization that disciplines, coordinates and promotes the development of Italian fashion.

According to a press release, the short film features models from marginalized sections of society, transgender people, people of all sizes and acid attack survivors of different races and ethnicities.

In short, models are seen in Ara Lumiere’s collection.

The film explores what disabling the binaries of beauty, thought, and perception can mean for the world.

Khan said she was honored to represent India at “one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world”.

“I have always believed in telling stories that make an impact and have social relevance. I am glad that the trend continues with ‘Kamjor’.”

Directors Qureshi and Sagoo said they are “excited” for the global premiere of “Weak” at Milano Fashion Week.

“Collaborating with Shabina and Kulsoom has been creatively enriching for us as filmmakers. ‘Vulnerable’ is not just a film but a social revolution that has been incorporated through the framework of fashion. We are turning it on its head and erasing the lines that separate us,” he said in a joint statement.

Wahab, who is also the executive director of the Hothur Foundation, said the short film was inspired by the vision of creating a new line of beauty and fashion that liberate and empower people.

“It’s about humanity taking its vulnerability and making it indistinguishable from strength. I’m excited to premiere the film at Milano Fashion Week, where they’re created, breaking the binary of perception,” she said. added.

The fashion festival will conclude on September 27.
