The Indian cricket team will take on their English counterpart in the fourth Test of the five-match series at The Oval on Thursday. And while the team is eyeing a comeback after a crushing defeat in Leeds, the selectors will announce the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in the UAE. Selectors have a plethora of resources to choose from. Since only 15 players can be named in the team, the selectors may decide to send some reserve players as well.
5 specialist batsmen: India have a strong batting line-up in the form of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer.
If reports are to be believed, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya will be named as the two all-rounders in the team. As far as the fast bowlers are concerned, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will get a place in the team. Mohammad Siraj, who has performed impressively in Tests, may get a chance as the fifth fast bowler for the World Cup.
Yuzvendra Chahal is destined to be one of the spinners. Now, as the conditions in the UAE could be favorable to the spinners, the selectors will have to pick between Varun Chakravarthy, Rahul Chahar, R Ashwin and Washington Sundar.
Reports suggest that the Indian team will also travel to UAE along with some reserve players and these include Ishan Kishan, Prithvi Shaw and an extra bowler.
The Indian team will start their campaign with their match against Pakistan on 24 October. They will then face New Zealand on 31 October, followed by a match against Afghanistan on 3 November. On November 5, he will face the qualifying team of Super 12. .
