Embarrassed by the fraud as the President of the Wrestling Federation of India, Bharatiya Janata (BJP) MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has ‘requested’ his well-wishers on social media to desist from making undue insinuations and messages. Singh said in a tweet from his handle, ‘Request, information about some objectionable slogans, graphics, hashtags has been received on social media. Anything that harms the dignity of any political party, social organization, community or caste-religion, I am in disagreement with them.

He said in another tweet, ‘And I refute such posts and articles. I am not bigger than the party, my dedication, my loyalty is authentic. My well wishers and supporters please stay away from such posts, don’t even comment if you like.
It is evident that a large number of wrestling players, including Olympic medalist Gawah Malik, Bajrang Punia, had staged a sit-in protest in Delhi in the past days against the President of Wrestling Federation of India and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on various charges including sexual harassment.
As the matter escalated, a meeting was held between Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and the protesting wrestlers in which Singh was removed from office pending an inquiry into his lies.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has denied all the allegations leveled against him. He was supposed to hold a press conference on the entire episode on Saturday but canceled it. At the same time, the Indian Olympic Association has formed a seven-member committee to investigate the jihad of sexual abuse.
Meanwhile, the Wrestling Federation of India’s annual general body meeting (AGEM) scheduled for Sunday in Ayodhya was cancelled. Sources said here on Sunday that the meeting was scheduled to be held at 10 am in Ayodhya, but it was canceled due to reasons following instructions received from the higher level. No meeting will be held in full and no official statement from the Speaker will be issued until the investigation is complete. Apart from this, the national wrestling championship which started on Saturday in Gonda has also been cancelled.
It is noteworthy that on behalf of Brij Bhushan Singh, it was said on Friday that after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the federation on January 22, he issued his stand on the allegations against him.
