IndianOil puts an end to fuel shortage rumours, says supplies “absolutely normal”

IndianOil clarifies that there is no shortage of fuel at petrol pumps across the country

Amid rumors of shortage of petrol and diesel in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and even Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, which led to long queues at petrol pumps in various cities of these states, the Indian Oil Corporation had to issue a clarification on Tuesday evening. That there is fuel availability in all its areas. The outlets are absolutely normal and there is no need to panic.

According to reports, rumors of fuel shortage surfaced during the weekend, which soon led to long queues at fuel outlets, forcing many dealers to shut them down as crowds were out of control.

The situation got out of hand in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, where in the capital city of Jaipur and Dehradun respectively, local petrol pump associations had to issue a clarification that there was no shortage of petrol and diesel.

The Dehradun administration has also started an investigation into the matter and has warned of strict action against those spreading rumours.

Panic forced IndianOil to issue a clarification, with retail director (marketing) V Satish Kumar tweeting that fuel supply is absolutely normal.

“This is to assure that the product availability at our retail outlets is absolutely normal. There is adequate product availability and supply in all the markets. We request you not to panic. IndianOil is fully committed to serve at all times. Is,” Mr Kumar said in a tweet.

Apparently rumors were spread that Saudi Arabia has stopped supplying crude oil to India, causing panic among the people of the kingdom.
