The country started vaccination for all people over the age of 45 from 1 April 2021. The government then decided to expand its vaccination campaign by allowing everyone above the age of 18 to be vaccinated with effect from 1 May 2021.

India started giving vaccine doses for the age group of 15-17 years and the ‘precautionary dose’ announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to three vulnerable groups- healthcare workers, frontline workers and co-morbid people from 3 January 2022. 60 years of age, from 10 January 2022.
