India’s daily Covid cases rise 17% as it reports 2,927 new infections

According to data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India records a 17% increase in daily Covid-19 cases on Wednesday. According to the daily health bulletin, India added 2,927 new cases in a day. Yesterday, India recorded 2,483 COVID cases.

With the new infection, the total number of cases in the country has gone up to 43,065,496 including 16,279 active cases. In the last 24 hours, 643 new active cases were registered on 27th April. Active cases account for 0.04% of the total cases.

The Health Ministry also informed that after the recovery of 2,252 people in the last 24 hours, the total number of cured people increased to 4,25,25, 563. The recovery rate from Kovid-19 in India is currently 98.75%.

A total of 32 deaths were reported due to covid In one day. Overall, the number of fatalities has risen to 5,23,654. The national capital Delhi reported 1,204 new Covid cases and one death. The positivity rate of the city has gone up to 4.64%.

Tamil Nadu recorded 72 cases of coronavirus, pushing the caseload to 34,53,679. On the other hand, 153 new Kovid infections were registered in Maharashtra, including 102 in Mumbai alone. The state also recorded four pandemic-related fatalities. The state’s coronavirus caseload rose to 78,77,078 and the death toll climbed to 1,47,838.

Further, government data said that a total of 83.59 crore Covid-19 tests have been conducted so far, of which 5.05 lakh tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. In these figures, the country witnessed a daily positivity rate of 0.58%, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.59%.

On the vaccination front, 188.19 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide COVID vaccination campaign. Yesterday, India’s drug regulator approved a restricted emergency use authorization for the biological E’s Covid-19 vaccine Corbevax for people aged five to 12 years and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for children aged six to 12 years. .

DCGI has also granted Cadila Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for an additional dose of 3mg for its ZyCoV-D with a two-jab inoculation schedule of 28 days for people over the age of 12 years.

ZyCoV-D, currently, is approved for a 2mg three-dose vaccination schedule.
