India’s daily COVID status in 5 charts India News – Times of India

New Delhi: The latest wave of Covid infections in India is showing a mixed trend – some hotspots like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata have now seen a decline in new cases for the third day in a row.
However, the cases in Karnataka and Kerala are on an upward trend.
Here the COVID situation of India is explained in 5 charts:
India added 288 more Omicron cases to its tally since Friday, taking the total to 5753. The variant, first detected in South Africa, is the suspect behind the latest surge in India and around the world.

Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata all reported fewer new cases as compared to Thursday and Friday. Although the graph in Bengaluru has shifted to the north, Chennai has also seen a slight increase in daily cases.

Among the states, Karnataka showed a rapid increase, with cases rising from 28,723 on Friday to 32,793 on Saturday. The graph is also upward in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. However, barring three southern states, other hotspots such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal and Delhi have seen a decline in numbers.

Nationally however, the number of daily cases continues to rise. Some experts are of the opinion that some areas of the country are already at the peak of the current wave of infections, and will see a gradual decline.

Another 402 deaths in the last 24 hours have taken India’s cumulative toll from Covid-19 to 485,752.
