Biggest shock to India’s goods exports in April MoreIndia’s merchandise exports saw their biggest decline in three years in April due to weak global demand and falling commodity prices. According to trade ministry data, exports in April fell by nearly 13 per cent to $34.66 billion from $39.70 billion in the previous year. The most recent severe decline was in May 2020, when merchandise exports fell by 35.52%. Goods imports declined 14% to $49.90 billion for the month, from $58.06 billion in the previous year. As a result, the trade imbalance declined to $15.24 billion from $18.36 billion in April last year.
