India’s longest sea bridge in Mumbai to be opened for traffic in November

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that 90% civil work Mumbai The country’s longest sea bridge trans-harbour link is ready and will be thrown open to traffic in November this year.

It will be the first bridge to have Open Road Tolling (ORT) system and 16.5 km long part of this 22 km bridge is above the sea.

Shinde said that once the bridge opens for traffic, it would be possible to travel from Sewri in central Mumbai to Chirle in Navi Mumbai in 15 to 20 minutes.

“Due to the open tolling system, vehicles will not have to stop at the bridge to pay the toll,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said that continuous efforts are being made to make commuting easier in the lives of Mumbaikars and provide relief from traffic woes.

He said, ‘The concept of ‘Multi-Modal Integrated Transportation Network Through Tunnel’ was reviewed in the meeting chaired by CM Eknath Shinde.’

“We have also discussed concepts like double deck and multi deck tunnel for better public transport,” said Mr. Fadnavis.

Further, he said that the MMRDA, BMC, GoM and concerned senior officials were instructed to conduct an in-depth study for working on the Integrated Traffic Management Network System and submit a feasibility report at the earliest.
