India’s merchandise exports to grow 6% to $447.46 billion in 2022-23: Commerce Secretary

Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal on India’s foreign trade in 2022-23: “Based on the service export projections and the actual number of goods exports, we have crossed our target of $750 billion to reach $770.18 billion. Last year also we achieved the highest export of $676 billion and this is $94 billion more.

“Despite global headwinds, we have not only achieved the target but also surpassed it. Merchandise exports are set to reach $447.46 billion in 2022-23, showing a growth of 6.03% over $422 billion in 2021-22.

“I am happy to share with you the excellent export performance for 2022-23, with India’s total exports touching new heights of $770 billion, registering a growth of 14% over the previous year and 2020- Growing to an all-time high of $500 billion in 21. to $676 billion in 2021-22,” Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on April 13.

He said exports of goods and services together have touched “new heights” and are expected to grow by 14% to $770 billion in 2022-23, as against $676 billion in 2021-22.
