Pune: Indigo and Turkish airlineTurkey’s national flag carrier airline has resumed its codeshare flights and partnerships, opening sales earlier this month.
Scheduled operations will be resumed in a phased manner with the first flight effective on Saturday. The codeshare is treated as a bilateral free flow codeshare in which both airlines will place their code on the other’s flights. The agreement will enable both carriers to offer customers greater flexibility of choice in the areas between India and Istanbul.
In the first phase, both the airlines are open for sale, in which Turkish Airlines as Marketing Carrier, and Indigo as Operating Carrier. Turkish Airlines will keep its code on trunk route flights operated by 6E on the Delhi-Istanbul route and later to six domestic destinations in India including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata.

Currently, Turkish Airlines operates a daily flight on the Delhi-Istanbul and Mumbai-Istanbul routes, while IndiGo operates a daily flight on the Delhi-Istanbul route and is also planning to add a second frequency from August. This codeshare between the two airlines allows customers to purchase connecting flights using a single reservation, and provides a smooth ticketing, check-in, boarding and baggage check experience throughout the journey.
