IndiGo appoints Peter Albers as CEO, Ronojoy Dutta to retire

Since 2014, Peter Albers has served as President and CEO of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

IndiGo’s parent company InterGlobe Aviation on Wednesday appointed Peter Albers as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr Albers will join from October 1, 2022, the airline said in a notification to the exchanges.

“He will replace 71-year-old Ronojoy Dutta, who has decided to retire on September 30, 2022 after guiding IndiGo during the turbulent COVID-19 period,” he said.

IndiGo Managing Director Rahul Bhatia said, “The Board of Directors and I would like to thank Rono for effectively leading our business for nearly four years, the most turbulent period in the history of the airline and aviation globally. has been.”

Since 2014, Mr Albers, 52, has served as Chairman and CEO of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. IndiGo said that he is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Air France-KLM Group.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in logistics management and a master’s degree in business economics.

In February this year, IndiGo co-promoter Rakesh Gangwal had resigned from the board of directors of parent company InterGlobe Aviation, saying it would gradually reduce the equity stake in the airline over the next five years.

Mr. Gangwal and his related entities hold about 37 per cent stake in this company. Mr. Bhatia and his related entities own about 38 per cent of InterGlobe Aviation.
