Industrial parks better to have common fire extinguishers, says official

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a seminar on Fire Safety with a focus on ‘Fire Prevention, Hazards and Risk Linked’ through virtual mode here on Friday.

Addressing the inaugural session, State Disaster Response and Fire Services Director General Pratap Madireddy said that the government is keen to work with industries and technical institutions to have cost-effective fire fighting equipment in factories.

He suggested for small scale units to have a common fire extinguisher in industrial parks to avoid unnecessary capital expenditure.

He said that the Disaster Response and Fire Department is taking many new steps to control the incidents of cold storage fire in the state.

DK Mohanty, President, CII Visakhapatnam Zone and Director (Commercial) Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited said that fire safety is paramount in any industry. He said that industries are taking precautions to avoid incidents of fire in factories.

PP Lal Krishna, Co-Chair, CII Andhra Pradesh Public Policy Taskforce and CEO & Managing Director, Ramky Pharma City also spoke.
