Industry can be roped in for CV Raman International Fellowship for African Researchers: DST Secretary

New Delhi : India has always benefited from working with Africa, and mutually beneficial relations have been beneficial to growing ties not only in science and technology but also in the fields of business, culture and social sciences in the Round Table Discussion on CV Raman International Fellowship Huh. S Chandrashekhar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, African Researcher (CVRF) Program with African Missions in India said.

“DST, along with the Ministry of External Affairs and our African friends, is working on various capacity building programs such as CV Raman Fellowships, training programs and strengthening of academic and scientific institutions. I want the CV Raman fellowship to be as popular as the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship of Germany.”

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) through Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) launched CV Raman Fellowship for African researchers under the India-Africa Forum Summit to promote human is of. Capacity building through scientific and technical cooperation between Africa and India.

The aim of this fellowship is to provide an opportunity to African researchers to conduct collaborative research in various areas of science and technology in various Indian universities and R&D institutions under the guidance of host scientists in India. The aim of this prestigious fellowship is to further strengthen the bond between India and African countries in science and technology.

Chandrashekhar said that the fellowship program is for people-to-people engagement and learning best practices from each other. He urged for the provision of re-watching the program so that the relationship can go a long way.

He also requested the program partner FICCI to join the industry for additional funding.

The Commissioners/Ambassadors/Delegates of Africa’s High Commissions/Embassies in India as well as officials from DST and FICCI also participated in the meeting and discussed about the fellowship.
