Inflation in European countries that use the euro currency set another record in August, mainly due to rising energy prices driven by Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Annual inflation in the 19 eurozone countries rose to 9.1% in August from 8.9% in July, according to the latest data released by the European Union’s statistics agency on Wednesday.

Inflation is at its highest level since record-keeping began for the euro in 1997.

Energy prices increased by 38.3%, while food prices increased by 10.6%. The prices of goods increased by 5% and the cost of services increased by 3.8%.
