‘Injuring’ England didn’t give up on Ashes, says David Malan Cricket News – Times of India

Melbourne: David Malana It is said that England has not stopped winning Ashes Even though he admits he will need a much better show in the third Test in Melbourne from Sunday to get himself back in the series.
The top-order batsman said the morale of the England camp was “fine” after some honest discussions following the defeats in Brisbane and Adelaide.
“The boys are in pain after our performance in the last two matches,” he told reporters at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday.
“We realize that we are not good enough in all aspects of the game. The boys want to win, we want to win the series as well.
“I know it’s a long way for us but we have to do well and play our best cricket in this Test match to get ourselves back in the series.”
Malan’s batting has provided some rare charms for England with his innings of 82 in Brisbane and 80 in Adelaide, but the 34-year-old admitted he had to get better too.
“Me and (Joe Root) have been in a position to score hundreds in two innings and haven’t been able to kick, which has probably cost us about a hundred runs at least as a team, and that brings us back to the game. . ,” They said.
“To score a good 80, to score a great 180, that’s the goal.”
with england openers Rory Burns And Haseeb Hameed is battling for runs, talking about bringing fresh blood to the top-order, especially Zak Crowley,
“Zak is a very talented player,” Malan said. “He is a tall player who plays the short ball really well so there is every possibility that he will be really good here.”
Malan said that if asked, he would also consider going ahead with the order to open himself.
He said, ‘I will bat wherever I play for England. “I don’t see myself as an opener, but if they want me, I’ll be happy to do what’s required.”
Malan said England’s disrupted preparation has left many less experienced players in a pitiful position to learn how to play in Australian conditions at work.
“(But) everyone is up for a challenge, everyone is really looking forward to facing the Australians,” he said.
“We do it in white-ball cricket, we try and push them, so hopefully we can get that mindset and not just go into our shells to try and survive.”
