Instagram down for over 180,000 users, company working to fix outage

DownDetector tracks outages by collecting status reports from multiple sources, including users.

Meta Platforms Inc’s Instagram said the company was aware that some people were having trouble accessing the app on Sunday, as users globally complained of service disruptions.

The company did not disclose the number of users affected by the outage, but outage tracking website Downdetector.com showed more than 100,000 incidents in the United States, 24,000 in Canada and 56,000 in the UK.

“We are working to get things back to normal as soon as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience,” a company spokesperson said in an email.

More than 180,000 users reported problems with accessing Instagram at the peak of the outage.
