An Instagram influencer was slammed on social media for sharing a photo of himself next to his father’s open coffin at his father’s funeral. Florida-based 20-year-old Jayne Rivera has deleted her Instagram account following the backlash. But screenshots of his pictures are going viral on social media platforms. In the images, she wore a fitted, black blazer dress as she stood near the coffin, which was adorned with an American flag. In a frame, he posed with folded hands.
“The father of this Instagram model passed away, and she did a photoshoot with the coffin open,” said a social media expert sharing the images on Twitter.

The photos generated an immediate reaction on the stage. One Twitter user wrote, “Have I mentioned the problem of a narcissistic and demonstrative culture.”

However, Ms Rivera defended herself while talking NBC News, saying that she “understands the negative reception” but the photos were “taken with the best of intentions, the way my father had her still alive.” The content creator said that everyone handles the loss of their loved ones in their own way – “some are more traditional while others can come across as taboo.” “For me, I treated the celebration as if my father was next to me, posing for the camera as he had done on several occasions before.”
As the criticism mounted, some said they agreed that what he did was wrong, shouting at it as insensitive as the post.
One user said, “Not what I would have done, although grief is a strange thing and maybe putting this girl on blast on the day of her father’s funeral is something you could have chosen not to do.”

Ms Rivera’s father died on 11 October, two days after her 56th birthday.
