Instagram will soon allow users to tip your favorite creators

New Delhi: Meta-owned photo and video-sharing platform Instagram is testing a new tipping feature internally for creators on the platform, say media reports. As reported by TechCrunch, the test feature called “Gifts” will allow creators to earn money through the reels.

“This feature is an internal prototype and is not being tested externally,” a company spokesperson said in an email to the website.

The feature was first noticed by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi in July, when Instagram was developing a feature called “content appreciation”.

According to a screenshot posted by Paluzzi, the feature will allow creators to turn on an option that will allow their fans to send them “gifts”.

Creators will also be able to check if they are eligible for this feature under the new Gifts tab in their settings. The screenshot also shows that users will be able to send gifts via a button displayed at the bottom of the reels.

In 2020, Instagram launched Badges, a feature that allows users to show support to creators during live videos. Badges can cost $0.99, $1.99 or $4.99.

When users buy badges during a live video, a heart icon appears next to your name in the comments, the report said.
