‘Insult to tribals’: BJP slams Congress over Ajay Kumar’s ‘bad darshan’ remark against Murmu

Coming down heavily on Congress leader Ajay Kumar’s “bad darshan” remarks against NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu, the BJP on Wednesday said the oldest party has humiliated the President’s post and apologized to the entire tribal community. needed. However, Kumar has issued a clarification and said that he had commented on the NDA’s views and not on Murmu, who is a “good woman”.

The controversy came a day after former Lok Sabha MP Kumar said Murmu “represents a very bad philosophy of India” and “should not be made a symbol of tribals”.

“Yashwant Sinha is a good candidate. Draupadi Murmu is a decent person but she represents the evil philosophy of India. We should not make them symbols of tribals. Ram Nath Kovind is the President but the atrocities on SC. Modi government is fooling people,” he told news agency ANI.

BJP IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya shared a video of Kumar’s remarks on Twitter and condemned it. He tweeted, “At a time when the NDA led by PM Modi has declared Mrs. Draupadi Murmu, a woman from tribal society, as its candidate for President, a move that will empower the tribals immensely, Congress leaders calling her a rogue. Huh. by union! Simply because he is a tribal. Shame.”

Another BJP leader, Shahzad Poonawalla, took to Twitter to say that Murmu has risen from the grassroots and asked, “What’s so bad about someone who has struggled against circumstances, got elected from the grassroots, as an MLA. Served in, won the best. MLA award, and there is not a single stain of corruption on him. What’s wrong with that?”

“The language used by the Congress party especially by Ajay Kumar is an insult to the entire tribal community. Congress should explain or else they should apologize for the statement that they have insulted not only Draupadi Murmuji but the entire tribal community,” Poonawalla told ANI.

Another BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia urged the Congress not to “destroy” the reputation of an institution. “To call NDA presidential candidate an evil force is not healthy politics and the people of this country have repeatedly rejected it. By making such remarks, the Congress party is defaming the office of the President. I request Congress not to destroy the reputation of any institution.

After facing backlash from the BJP, Kumar took to Twitter and claimed that the saffron party was spreading a fake video to defame him. “It is a shame that BJP IT cell is spreading a fabricated video to defame me. I don’t care what the trollers say or spread, I want BJP to answer our Dalit brothers and sisters for what they have done for Dalit people,” he said in a series of tweets.

Talking to ANI she said, “I have always said that Murmu is a good woman. The issue is the NDA’s views on which I commented. Amit Malviya is in charge of BJP IT cell and is sending fake videos. The one minute video has been reduced to 17 seconds and has been misrepresented. We will deal with this issue legally.”

Murmu had earlier served as the Governor of Jharkhand. If elected, she will be the first tribal woman to hold the top constitutional post.

Yashwant Sinha, the opposition candidate for the presidential election, recently said that the contest between him and Murmu is not just about who will become the next president, but also on whether to save the constitution after becoming president. Who will exercise his rights?

Presidential elections are to be held on 18 July.
