Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) beat Sports Authority of India 9-2 to put up a summit clash with Railway Sports Promotion Board in the first Hockey India Senior Men Inter-Department National Championship here on Monday. In the second semi-final, Railways defeated Punjab National Bank 4-3.
Armaan Qureshi and Talwinder Singh scored a goal each as PSPB beat Sports Authority of India (SAI) in the second semi-final.
For PSPB, Sunil Yadav doubled the lead in the 7th minute and Talwinder Singh in the 10th minute. Chetan Mallappa Karisiri managed to return a goal for SAI in the 16th minute, but Abharan Sudev B scored the third goal for PSPB and the experienced Affan Yusuf scored the fourth goal in the 22nd minute to give PSPB a 4-1 lead. Earlier in the first semi-final, Punjab National Bank (PNB) faced Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in a classic thriller. Both the teams got off to a great start in the defense but Abhishek managed to score the first goal in the 19th minute of the match. However, PNB’s lead lasted only a minute and Pradeep Singh scored the equalizer in the 20th minute.
After this, experienced Amit Rohidas made his team’s second goal in the 32nd minute by putting Railways ahead. Hira Singh took the lead by scoring the third goal in the 35th minute. Abhishek scored the second goal for PNB in the 40th minute, but Ajmer Singh scored the fourth goal for Railways in the 50th minute, Gursimran Singh again closed the gap, scored the third goal in the 54th minute but Railways managed to hold the final Killa in a few minutes and won the match 4–3 to reach the final.
