Internet eaters are asking questions at Surat Eatery’s Kulhad Pizza

The latest addition to the menu of internet quirky foodies is Kulhad Pizza, a concoction of corn, tomato and paneer prepared by a roadside joint called The Chaat Corner in Surat. The video was posted by a YouTube channel named ‘Aamchi Mumbai’ and has garnered 38,000 likes.

The video shows an employee of the eatery mixing corn, tomatoes, cheese, chili flakes and some sauce in a bowl, and then pouring the mixture into a clay cup kulhad. The mixture and paneer are alternately poured into the kulhad, and left in the oven for some time. Once done, it is served hot to the customer.

Kulhad, a biodegradable vessel, is commonly used for drinking tea in India. That is why the pizza in Kulhad has increased the curiosity of the eaters.

However, not all viewers were impressed with the preparation and pointed to one conspicuously missing material – the premise.

One viewer posted: “After I bought this: Where’s my Pizza Base Man?”

Another had something to say about the seller’s ‘secret ingredient’.

“Let that man be like this: I won’t reveal anything about our secret ingredients like tomato sauce and mayonnaise. It’s our trade secret,” he wrote.

Such innovative food ideas have been doing the rounds on social media lately. While we had butter chicken golgappas recently, there was a Maggi milkshake a few days back. Previously, a recipe of Maggi laddus using jaggery and cashews became popular. Maggi Ice Cream, Maggi Burger, Maggi Crab Curry, and many more recipes have already been created. If these combinations sound regular to you, there are some other quirky people who have incorporated Maggi in pani puri, gulab jamun and many other sweets.
