IPL-17: KKR vs SRH | Andre Russell, Rinku Singh take Kolkata past 200

After putting into bat, Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen Rinku Singh (23) and Andre Russell (64) took their team past the 200-mark and finished at 208 for 7 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Kolkata on March 23.

Kolkata Knight Riders opened with Phil Salt (54) and Sunil Narine (2). KKR lost four quick wickets and were tottering at 51 for 4 in 7.3 overs. Then Ramandeep Singh (35) and Phil Salt added 54 runs for the fifth wicket.

Kolkata lost Ramandeep Singh and Phil Salt in quick succession and KKR were 119 fof 6 in 13.5 overs.

Rinku Singh and Andre Russell added 81 runs for the seventh wicket. Andre Russell was particularly severe on the SRH bowlers and scored quickly and reached his half-century in 20 balls.

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad new captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first in the Indian Premier League 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata on March 23.

Apart from Pat Cummins, the other overseas players for Sunrisers Hyderabad are Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klassen and Marco Jansen.

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer said his overseas players are Phil Salt, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell and Mitchell Starc.

An interesting match is on the cards as it is between Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, the two most expensive buys of this edition.
