IPL 2021, RCB vs MI: Harshal Patel takes a hat-trick against Mumbai Indians; Included in the elite list of bowlers

Purple cap holder Harshal Patel took a breathtaking hat-trick against defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday to help Royal Challengers Bangalore win. Indian Premier League Match 39 (IPL 2021) by 54 runs in Dubai. This RCB bowler did this wonders in the 17th over by dismissing Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Rahul Chahar in three consecutive balls. Defending a target of 166, Patel broke the backbone of the MI batting line-up to put his team in the driver’s seat. It started with a brilliant cutter bowling by Patel to Pandya, which was caught by RCB captain Virat Kohli. The pacer again bowled a cutter, which touched Pollard’s flick and hit the stumps to give the bowler his second wicket in two balls.

After this, Chahar was made lbw on the ball on the pad just in front of the wicket. Patel rejoiced after completing a brilliant hat-trick in the third wicket as MI were reduced to 106/8 in the 17th over.

This cemented Harshal Patel’s position at the top of the list of wicket-takers with 23 wickets in 10 matches.

RCB are now third on the points table with 12 points from six wins and four losses.

This is the 20th time for a bowler to take a hat-trick in IPL. The last hat-trick in the league was taken by Shreyas Gopal of Rajasthan Royals against RCB in the 2019 edition.

Veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra holds the record for most hat-tricks in IPL, having achieved this feat thrice. Yuvraj Singh has taken two hat-tricks in the league.
