After reviving their innings with an unbeaten half-century from Dinesh Karthik after Glenn Maxwell’s half-century, RCB posted a challenging 189/5 at the Wankhede Stadium. In reply, DC got off to a good start with their openers adding 50 runs in 4.4 overs and they were still in the hunt at 94/1 when David Warner (66) was dismissed lbw by Vanindu Hasaranga,

Warner’s departure gave way to their chase as they eventually finished with 173/7 in 20 overs. This was DC’s third loss in five matches and they remain eighth in the 10-team competition.

For RCB, Josh Hazlewood was the bowlers’ choice with 3/28 in four overs while Mohammad Siraj took a few wickets. Earlier, Karthik continued his red-hot form with an unbeaten 66.

He scored 66 runs in just 34 balls, while Maxwell hit seven fours and two sixes in his 34-ball 55.

Capitals’ bowlers initially did well as a well-oiled unit with Shardul Thakur (1/27), Khaleel Ahmed (1/36), Axar Patel (1/29) and Kuldeep Yadav (1/46) Did, but scored a bleed. In the slog overs, Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed (32 not out) added 74 runs in the last five.

Karthik, who has been enjoying his role as a finisher this season, hit five fours and as many sixes in his sensational innings.

DC made full use of the coin that came in their favor as they put pressure on RCB early on with tight fielding and good bowling.

Delhi bowlers took two wickets for 40 runs in the powerplay overs.

Thakur produced a graceful inswinger that pierced Anju Rawat (0) to give Delhi an early breakthrough. Khaleel Ahmed then made it two as he blamed the dangerous Faf du Plessis.

Lalit Yadav impresses Virat Kohli’s run out with a brilliant direct hit to ease RCB’s troubles.

It was then that Maxwell dismissed Kuldeep Yadav for 23 in the ninth over. The all-rounder hit top gear as he hit the ball twice over the fence and a couple of times over it.

His half-century came soon after as he continued to hit the Delhi bowlers all over the park.

However, Kuldeep took his revenge a few overs later as the ball hit the toe of the Australian’s bat and Lalit Yadav completed the regulation catch.

With Maxwell gone, Karthik and Shahbaz join forces. The wicketkeeper made the batting easy as he smashed four fours and two sixes off Mustafizur and smashed 28 runs in the 18th over to score his half-century.
