70 league matches, 4 playoffs

The 15th season will begin with a clash between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium from March 26. This year’s IPL series will be held in Mumbai and Pune only. The BCCI said that a total of 70 league matches and 4 playoff matches will be played over a period of 65 days.

On March 27, the league will stage its first double-header, starting with a day’s play at Brabourne, where Delhi Capitals will take on Mumbai Indians.

The DY Patil Stadium will host the match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the night. The MCA Stadium in Pune will host its first match on March 29, when Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Rajasthan Royals.

In all, there will be 20 matches each at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium, 15 matches each at Brabourne and MCA International Stadium, Pune. There will be a total of 12 doubleheaders with the first match starting at 3:30 PM IST. All the matches in the evening will start at 7:30 PM IST.

The final match of the league phase will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on 22 May. The BCCI said that the playoffs and the Tata IPL 2022 final will be played on May 29.
