Check out the latest points table updates after the IPL 2023 match between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Gujarat Titans continue to burnish their reputation with yet another stellar performance which saw them become the first team to book a playoff berth in the ongoing IPL 2023. Avoid being last at the table.

Batting first, GT posted 188/9 thanks to a brilliant century from Shubman Gill – the first of his IPL career. Gill scored 101 runs in 58 balls with the help of 13 fours and a six. At one stage, the hosts looked set to finish with a total in excess of 200 before SRH made a comeback to slog overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar took the second five-wicket haul of his IPL career to put the brakes on the scoring. However, SRH’s chase started on a disastrous note, with Mohammed Shami taking three wickets in the powerplay, causing extensive damage from which the visitors could not recover.

If Shami wreaked havoc in the early going, it was Mohit Sharma, who took three wickets in two overs to bundle out SRH at 59/7, all but ending their hopes of a revival. Heinrich Klaasen’s half-century proved to be helpful in reducing the margin of defeat.

There is no change in the points table and all the 10 teams have retained their positions. However, with their ninth win in 13 matches, GT have taken their points tally to 18, which will ensure they finish second on the table.

In this way, GT will get two chances to make it to the final of IPL 2023.

SRH, on the other hand, remain at the ninth spot after suffering their eighth loss in 12 matches. They have 8 points – the same as Delhi Capitals – but are ahead thanks to a better net run-rate.

Faf du Plessis though will feel a bit apprehensive that his top spot is now under real threat but for the time being, he will hold on to the Orange Cap having scored 631 runs in 12 innings.
