Check out the latest points table of IPL 2023, which is currently headed by defending champions Gujarat Titans ahead of the playoffs

A storm named Yashasvi Jaiswal reached the Eden Gardens and took away the Kolkata Knight Riders. A young Rajasthan Royals batsman launched a breathtaking attack on his bowlers and took the wind out of his sails.

Jaiswal made his intentions clear with ball one during Rajasthan’s chase of 150 against KKR in IPL 2023. He hit a six over KKR skipper Nitish Rana, who initially took a gamble by bowling himself but was left remorseful by the time he completed the over.

Why? Because Jaiswal had hit 26 runs in it. And he brought up the fifty in 13 balls to break the record for the fastest fifty in IPL history.

It was pure carnage from Jaiswal as he smashed an unbeaten 98 off 47 balls. Such was his impact that it took Yuzvendra Chahal’s historic feat of becoming the all-time leading wicket-taker in IPL history out of the limelight in the first game.

RR chased down the target in just 15.1 overs in a clinical performance. He was dominant with his bowling, brilliant with his fielding and brilliant with his batting.

Points table after RR vs KKR

The winner was supposed to jump to fourth but RR moved up to third thanks to his sensational run-chase that took his net run rate to 0.633. Thus they have displaced Mumbai Indians from third to fourth spot, who have 12 points as RR but a negative NRR of -0.255.

Lucknow Supergiants have slipped to the fifth position.

KKR’s sorry performance saw them swapped with Royal Challengers Bangalore. KKR is now seventh while RCB have gained one place to reach sixth position.

Two runs and Jaiswal snatches the Orange Cap from Faf du Plessis.

The RR opener now has 575 runs in 12 innings at a strike-rate of 167.15. Du Plessis has 576 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 157.80.
