Jaydev Unadkat suffered a shoulder injury during training and was subsequently ruled out of the remaining matches of IPL 2023

Lucknow Super Giants have brought in uncapped Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge as a replacement for the injured Jaydev Unadkat for the remainder of their IPL 2023 campaign.

Left-arm fast bowler Unadkat had injured his shoulder during training.

Suryansh joins LSG for Rs 20 lakh.

Unadkat slipped on the side rope while bowling in the LSG nets and flew to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for rehabilitation.

“Specialist advice has been taken and the left-arm fast bowler is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru undergoing strength and rehabilitation sessions for his shoulder,” the BCCI said in a statement.

A decision on his participation in the WTC final will be taken later.

Who is Suryansh?

Suryansh is a 20-year-old promising all-rounder who represents Mumbai in domestic cricket. He was included in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad for the 2022-23 season, but did not get a single match.

During the U-25 State A tournament last year, Shedge scored 184 runs and took 12 wickets in eight matches.

The then 19-year-old Shedge expressed surprise at the Ranji call-up

“This Ranji call was unexpected and hence it makes me more happy. But my dream has always been to get the Mumbai cap. My main focus was on the U-25 tournament as our target was to win the championship. I was hurt when we lost to Madhya Pradesh in a close quarterfinal [in Indore]Shedge told Mid-Day.

Meanwhile, LSG kept their playoff hopes alive with a thrilling win over Mumbai Indians on Tuesday.

They are currently on the third spot with 15 points to their name.

Gujarat Titans remain on top with 18 points from 13 matches while Chennai Super Kings are second with 15 points.

If Royal Challengers Bangalore lose to Sunrisers Hyderabad tonight, then both LSG and CSK will qualify for the playoffs as no other contender will be able to reach 15 points.
