Delhi Capitals’ (DC) win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Wednesday night has opened up the possibility of another explosive clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing IPL 2023. Once again, RCB need to win both their remaining matches, starting with the first against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday night.
RCB are currently placed 5th in the IPL 2023 points table with 12 points from 12 matches so far. A couple of wins over SRH and Gujarat Titans in their last match will take them to 16 points and help them qualify for the playoffs. For the RCB vs LSG playoff game, Krunal Pandya’s Lucknow team needs to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders in their last game.
Also MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings need to win their last game against Delhi Capitals on Saturday while SRH need to beat Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium later this week. If all these scenarios happen, fans can expect another explosive ‘do or die’ eliminator match next week.

The last match between RCB and LSG ended with ugly scenes outside the ground There was a clash between RCB batsman Virat Kohli and Lucknow mentor Gautam Gambhir. After the match, both Kohli and Gambhir were fined 100 per cent of their match fees while LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq was also fined 50 per cent of his match fee.
The incident happened 10 years after their brawl in IPL during RCB’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru. Kohli now plays as a batsman for RCB after relinquishing the captaincy to Faf du Plessis in 2022, and Gambhir is retired and serves as a global mentor with the KL Rahul-led LSG.
There seemed to be an exchange of words between LSG bowler Naveen-ul-Haq and Kohli when the players were shaking hands after the game. Gambhir then dropped his team’s opener Kyle Mayers from the conversation with Kohli.
After that, as soon as Gambhir reached Kohli, his players including injured captain KL Rahul and Amit Mishra started stopping him. With the two facing off, Kohli was seen trying to pacify Gambhir, but instead of cooling down, the matter boiled over and Amit Mishra separated the two.
