IPL franchises allowed Rs 90 crore as salary purse, retention limit of 4 players cricket news

NS BCCI 10. 90 crores salary limit has been fixed for IPL The next season allowed a maximum of four retentions for the franchise and eight established teams, including two new entrants. As reported by PTI on Friday, the two new franchises – Lucknow and Ahmedabad – will be given the option of picking up to three players from the auction pool after the old teams announced their choice of retention. A senior IPL franchise official told PTI, “The BCCI had sent a letter to all the franchises, updating them about the new rules, which will cost a team Rs 42 crore for four retentions, while three retentions will cost a team Rs. But there will be a shortfall of Rs 33 crore.”

“Retaining two players would mean that Rs 24 crore was deducted while retaining one player would mean spending Rs 14 crore out of Rs 90 crore,” he said.

He also pointed out that the retention amount and the amount paid to the player are not always the same.

“Suppose Delhi Capitals retains Rishabh Pant as their ‘Player 1’ out of the four maximum players, then the purse deducted would be Rs 16 crore. But in reality, Pant’s actual take home salary was deducted from the purse. It is not a reflection of. It may be very less. I am just giving an example,” the official said.

In case of four retentions, it can be either three Indians and one foreign player or a maximum of two Indians and so many foreigners.

In case of two new franchises, when they are allowed to select from the pool, they will have the right to choose two Indian and one foreign player from the available pool.

In case of uncapped players, the old franchise will have two options and the new franchise will have one option.

The letter said that the entire month of November can be used for retention by the eight old franchises and then from December 1-25, Lucknow and Ahmedabad will get a chance to choose their three players before the auction in early January.

The letter said, “The retention time for the eight existing teams will be from 1 November 2021 to 30 November 2021. Thereafter, the 2 new teams will have a player retention window from 1 December 2021 to 25 December 2021.” ” where did it go.

In terms of per player salary purse deduction, there are different figures for the four different slabs. In terms of ‘Slab 1’ and retaining four players – ‘Khiladi 1’ worth Rs 16 cr, ‘Khiladi 2’ costing Rs 12 cr, ‘Khiladi 3’ costing Rs 8 cr and ‘Khiladi 4’ 6 would be Rs. Ten million.

Hence, the total purse deducted will be Rs 42 crore and that franchise will have Rs 48 crore to play in the big auction. In the case of ‘Slab 2’, ‘Player 1’ is priced at Rs 15 crore, ‘Player 2’ is priced at Rs 11 crore and ‘Player 3’ has been earmarked for Rs 7 crore.

So a total of Rs 33 crore will be deducted from the entire purse and that particular franchise will have Rs 57 crore to bid in the auction. For ‘Slab 3’, in which two retentions are possible, ‘Player 1’ is valued at Rs 14 crore and ‘Player 2’ is valued at Rs 10 crore and a total of Rs 24 crore has been deducted from the purse.
