Iran ready to end visas for Russians: Foreign Minister – Times of India

Tehran: Foreign Minister Hussein amir-abdullahiyan said on thursday Tehran Is ready to end visas for Russians and said the first step could be a visa-free regime for business trips.

Lavrov met with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi soon after arriving in Tehran on an official visit.
During his two-day visit at the invitation of Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahiyan, Lavrov is due to meet with senior Iranian officials to discuss the Iran nuclear deal, xinhua news agency informed of.
Iranian state media said they would also discuss issues related to expanding cooperation between Ukraine, Syria and Afghanistan, trade and energy cooperation, as well as Tehran and the regions of Eurasia and the Caucasus.
Iran and Russia are both subject to US sanctions, which have limited their ability to send their vast energy reserves to global markets. Both countries described their relations as strategic.
Iran signed the nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in July 2015 with world powers acknowledging the imposition of some sanctions on its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions on Tehran .
However, former President Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the agreement in May 2018 and reimposed WashingtonUnilateral sanctions on Tehran, prompting Iran to reduce some of its nuclear commitments under the agreement in retaliation.
Since April last year, several rounds of talks have been held in Vienna between Iran and the remaining JCPOA parties to revive the deal.
Iran insists on obtaining guarantees that successful US governments will not abandon the deal again, and calls for sanctions to be lifted in a verifiable manner.
