Iraqi man walks 6,500 km from UK to reach Mecca for Hajj

A British man of Iraqi-Kurdish origin walked 6,500 km from Britain to reach Mecca this year to perform Hajj.

Adam Mohamed, 52, traveled to 10 countries and covered a distance of 6,500 km.

A British man of Iraqi-Kurdish origin walked 6,500 km from Wolverhampton in England to reach Mecca this year to perform Hajj.

Adam Mohamed, 52, covered nearly 6,500 km in 10 months and 25 days to reach Saudi Arabia via the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan. He debuted in the UK on August 1, 2021, and arrived in Saudi Arabia last month.

According to the report of Al JazeeraAdam drove an average of 17.8 km every day and pushed with a house cart weighing 300 kilograms, fitted with speakers that played Islamic recitations and his personal belongings. His aim was to spread the message of peace and equality.

He even created a GoFundMe page for himself. He wrote, “I am doing all this not just for fame or money, but to highlight to the world as a whole that we human beings are all equal, regardless of our caste, colour, religion and for peace and unity.” To spread the message that our religion Islam teaches.”

His decision to undertake this journey was the result of this soul search. He was overwhelmed by the love people showered on him along the way. He broadcast his journey on Tiktok and got half a million followers.

Upon arrival in Mina, he was received by the Acting Minister of Media, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, who hosted and helped him finalize his Hajj permit procedures.

Saudi Arabia has allowed one million Muslims to perform Hajj this year after a gap of two years. In 2020 and 2021, Hajj was restricted to residents of Saudi Arabia only.

Haj pilgrimage started from July 7 this year.
