Is BJP snapping ties with Dushyant Chautala’s JJP? Here’s what Haryana CM said

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his deputy Dushyant Chautala have both denied claims of a rift between their respective parties. The remarks came amid persistent rumours that the BJP was set to part ways with the Jannayak Janta Party. Questions arose earlier this week after BJP Haryana in-charge Biplab Deb reportedly met with four Independent MLAs and Haryana Lokhit Party MLA Gopal Kanda in Delhi.

Khattar however said that there were no problems, insisting that the coalition is continuing and will continue. He also said that any update or new decision would be taken by Deb.

“What happens now is for our party affairs in charge to decide, in the interest of the party. Only he can explain the reasons behind his meeting people… Yes, Deb met me, but we discussed other issues,” he said.

The Deputy CM has also made similar assertions. “Both parties are working together. We have a stable government and working for the progress of the state. Our effort is to reach out to more citizens and solve their problems accordingly,” he said.

Chautala’s party had emerged as kingmaker during the 2022 polls after all parties fell shy of the halfway mark of 46 seats. The BJP holds 41 seats in the state Assembly while the JJP has 10. The Opposition Congress has 30 MLAs.
