Is RRR a gay love story? This Oscar Winner Thinks So

SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ is once again in the news. It is currently trending on social media when some people pointed out that they see it as more of a ‘gay romance’ than an ‘action’ film. Some western viewers have recently tweeted that they really enjoyed the romance between Ram Charan and Jr NTR. Reacting to this, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma reacted to the comments. He wrote, ‘I was right. “They’re so gay’ Western audiences’ perception of ‘RRR’ as a gay story.”

And now, Oscar winner Resul Pookutty has also called it a ‘gay love story’, quoting a Times of India article.

The film, which was also dubbed into Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada as a pan-India film, is a pre-independence fictional story woven around two real Indian revolutionaries in the 1920s – Alluri Sitaram played by Ram Charan Raju, and Komaram Bheem, essayed by NT Rama Rao Jr.

“RRR”, one of the most successful Indian films of 2022 1,200 crores at the worldwide box office.

Meanwhile, Netflix said last month that the Hindi version of “RRR” has become “India’s most popular film” on streamers globally. The Hindi dubbed take of the Telugu language film hit Netflix on May 20, two months after its worldwide theatrical release.

According to the streaming platform, “RRR” (Hindi) movie, which has a runtime of 3 hours 2 minutes, has been viewed “over 45 million hours” worldwide.

“RRR is now the most popular Indian movie worldwide on Netflix,” Netflix announced on Twitter.

Streaming of Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions of “RRR” has started on ZEE5 from May 20.
