next week bank holidayThe month of January brought with it several holidays for bank employees across the country in both the private and public sectors. For example, all public and private sector banks are closed on Saturday, January 8, as it is the second Saturday of the month. Next week, lenders will close their doors to customers for five days. This comes as per the provision of RBI list of holidays prepared for all banks. Reserve Bank of India has released the list of holidays for the year 2022 in its annual list. The holidays have been prepared according to this list.

As per the RBI list, there are nine state-wise holidays in January 2022, which have already started. This includes the first day of January, where banks will be closed in some states. The remaining seven holidays are weekend holidays when banks are closed nationally. So, if you have any bank related work, you should first contact your nearest branch regarding bank holidays in January so that you can do your work seamlessly. On that note, you should also note that this should not be of much concern as these bank holidays are largely state-wise. This means that they are usually not uniform in nature.

Bank holidays are effective as per the list issued by Reserve Bank of India or RBI. According to a list of the central bank, the number of holidays this month has been fixed at 16. The rest are weekend leaves. This includes all Sundays of the month as well as the second and fourth Saturdays. Banks are open on the first and third Saturdays of every month. The RBI holidays list falls into three categories. These are state wise celebrations, religious holidays and festival celebrations.

The central bank’s notification for holidays has been notified under three brackets namely ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’, ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’ and ‘Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday’ and ‘Banks’ Closing of Accounts. ‘ Are included. On these notified holidays, all branches of banks, including public sector, private sector, foreign banks, co-operative banks and regional banks, will remain closed.

There is no national holiday this month, but most banks will remain closed on 26 January on the occasion of Republic Day. Having said that, let’s take a look at the list of holidays when banks will be closed in the month of January, so that you can schedule accordingly.

Apart from individual state wise holidays. Banks will be closed on some weekends. In this regard it should be noted that weekend leaves are similar in nature across India. These are mentioned below:

January 9: Sunday

Banks will remain closed on Saturday, January 15, in some states even though it is the third Saturday of the month. This is because that day is a state-wise holiday. To get a list for your area, it is advisable for you to visit your nearest bank and inquire about holidays so that you do not face any problem while doing your job.
