Vineet Rai, Victor Mangil and Hector Rodas have been voted by the players as the three captains of Odisha FC for the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL). Speaking about the development, head coach Kiko Ramirez expressed, “Vineet is a player who has a lot of experience in Hero ISL. All the players also respect him. He can help us bring all the players together and ensure a good season. Victor is an example in the team, hardworking with good attitude and a hero with experience to win ISL titles. Hector is a natural leader and has a lot of experience in the top leagues in Europe and can be of great help to the team and its teammates.”
Explaining the voting process, assistant coach Kino Garcia said, “Every player had to put three names on a paper and put them in a box which I kept. As per the rules, each player had to keep at least one name of an Indian player along with foreign players. Coaching staff also participated in the voting process.
Rodas – one of the three captains – said, “It is a pride and a responsibility for me. My teammates trust me and I am here to help them in every way possible. I will share my experience in football so that they become players. Keep moving forward together. My level of presence, commitment, demand and capability will be maximized. I am sure we will make a great family together.”
Mangil said, “I am very happy to be one of the captains of the team. I would like to thank my teammates for giving me the responsibility of upholding the values of the club and the team and leading by example both on and off the field. We have a very exciting year ahead with very ambitious goals and we will do everything we can to achieve them.”
“First of all I really want to thank all the boys who voted for me and showed their faith in me. I am very grateful to have been selected among the three captains. I am really happy and excited for the season. It is a new season with new coaches and new faces in the team. The most important thing is to work hard and put effort.
