IT portal faces another glitch in a year since launch, Infosys will fix the issue

In a year since its launch, the Income Tax e-filing portal has been facing yet another glitch. The matter has been brought to the notice and the Income Tax Department has directed Infosys to look into the issue. Tuesday will be the first anniversary of the new e-filing portal.

The IT department said through its Twitter account, “The issue regarding the search functionality of the e-filing website has come to our notice. Income tax The department has seized the matter.”

The department said that Infosys has confirmed that they are addressing the issue on priority.

Officials ensure taxpayers that there is no data breach due to latest glitch e-filing portal,

CBDT chairperson Sangeeta Singh said, “There was a persistent concern that something had happened to our search functionality of the e-filing website. Infosys has been directed to look into the matter and they have told us that there is no data. There was no violation. Infosys is resolving it on priority,” tweeted ANI.

The Income Tax e-filing portal was launched on 7th June with an aim to facilitate the taxpayers and provide a modern, seamless experience to the taxpayers. However, the journey so far has been a rough one as taxpayers and professionals have reported glitches and difficulties in its handling. The portal was integrated with the immediate processing of Income Tax Returns (ITR) for quick issuance of refunds to the taxpayers.

Infosys is the vendor that has developed the new e-filing portal for the IT department.

Just after its launch on June 7 last year, the e-filing portal faced several glitches in its functioning. The Finance Ministry and Infosys have already met to discuss these glitches and how to strengthen the technical infrastructure of the portal.

On August 23 last year, Infosys MD and CEO Salil Parekh assured FM Nirmala Sitharaman that the company is working expeditiously to ensure a mess-free experience for taxpayers on the portal. Also, Parekh told that more than 750 members of the team are working on this project.

Finance ministry data showed that tax revenue collection was 27.07 lakh crore in FY22 – approx 5 lakh crore from the Union Budget Estimates of 22.17 lakh crore.
