“It’s Not a Joke”: Dublin Airbnb Host Lists Tents for Around Rs 5,800 Per Night

Dublin “Private House” is no longer traceable and has been removed from the website.

A Dublin Airbnb host recently advertised a “private room” under the stars for about $75 (Rs 5,800) per night, but it was actually just a pop-up tent on a concrete slab in the backyard.

Screenshots of listings from the popular property rental website have made their way to social media. The “private room in Dublin” provided a bed and bath, possibly installed behind it in the house. It was listed by an Airbnb host named Paul, who has over 1,500 reviews for other locations New York Post,

At first, many thought someone was joking because of skyrocketing property prices in Dublin. However, these speculations were clarified when a housing activist emailed a user asking if the ad was true.

The Airbnb host replied that the ad was actually true. He said that “it’s no joke” and he even had a comfy sofa in the living room if he wanted. According to screenshots provided by the housing activist, Mr. Paul also said that he has a huge living room and several sofas which have also been listed.

separately, Twitter user Nick Capa Also posted a screenshot of the same “private room” and said he almost cried when he saw how “unfair” real accommodations are in Dublin.

Once the post went viral, Internet users criticized the Airbnb host for charging a hefty fee for a tent in his concrete garden. This astonished the netizens. While some tagged Airbnb and wrote, “How are you advertising this kind of content,” others said, “who the hell would reserve that if it were true”.
